Driving on icy roads is never an easy task. There are some errors, and even a slight miscalculation can lead to a serious accident involving many vehicles. One such event occurred earlier this month near the town of Kititas, Washington.
Luckily for Tesla owner Joe Adams, he ran into a pile while driving his electric car.as mentioned in fox weather According to reports, the accident occurred near the town of Kititas around 5:30 am. A total of 30 vehicles, including 12 semi-trucks, were hit by a layer of freezing fog. The collision ripped apart one of the transport trucks and also hit an ambulance.
Mr. Adams was driving on a road with little visibility when he noticed a group of flashing lights in the distance. He hit the brakes, but the road was already too slippery. Thinking quickly, the Tesla owner steered the car to the median to avoid the initial pile-up. The all-electric car handled the maneuvers well and stopped on the icy grass without spinning.
Unfortunately, the pickup truck driver also tried to use the median to avoid the main pileup, which resulted in Adams’ Tesla becoming a T-bone. Images from the aftermath of the accident showed the Tesla was badly damaged from the T-bone crash.
As pointed out on the YouTube channel Whambeam Teslacam, the damaged Tesla was later towed to a junkyard as the vehicle would likely be declared a total loss by the insurance company. Adams has filed a claim against the driver of the pickup truck that ran him over, but the insurance company is waiting for the state patrol to complete an investigation.
Comments on a Washington State Patrol social media post suggested that the 30-car pile was probably caused by drivers simply speeding too fast in such icy conditions. I was. After all, just one mistake would set off a chain reaction that would eventually involve dozens of vehicles. Fortunately, or miraculously, only minor injuries were reported in the 30-car-stacked accident.
