‘Please Don’t Travel’: Blizzard Conditions Across MN Friday

TWIN CITIES, Minnesota — Blizzard conditions will make travel “almost impossible” on Friday, the National Weather Service said.

“Dangerously cold, significant snowstorms and drifting snow make movement nearly impossible today and tonight, especially in the open areas outside of town.These conditions are life threatening if you are stranded.DO NOT MOVE. Please give me.”

Northwest gusts are expected to reach 50 mph on Friday, with gusts of over 50 mph possible in areas with blizzard warnings.

Wind chills are expected to reach minus 32 degrees Celsius in the Twin Cities metropolitan area within the next 24 hours.

Friday: Widespread blizzard, mainly after 5pm. Partly sunny, maximum temperature around -1. Wind chill value as low as -37. Winds are strong, with northwesterly winds of 25 to 30 mph and gusts of 45 mph.

Friday night: Widespread blizzard, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, minimum temperature around -6. Wind chill value as low as -32. Winds are strong, with 30-35 mph northwesterly winds and 45 mph gusts.

Saturday: Snowstorm area before 5pm. Mostly sunny and cold with highs near 4. The lowest wind chill value is -33. Winds are strong, 20-30 mph WNW, with gusts up to 40 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly sunny, minimum temperature around -9. Wind chill value as low as -25. WNW winds 10-15 mph, gusts 25 mph.

Christmas: 20% chance of snow after noon. Clouds will increase and the maximum temperature will be around 7 degrees. WNW winds are 5-10 mph, turning to SSW in the afternoon.
